Oh if we could get some leadership like this

We have a mayor who makes stupid comments about chocolate cities and high numbers of murders as a good thing because 'it keeps our brand out there'. 

I know that this example is showbiz but why can't we have a politician who can arouse empathy and emotion like this. If script writers can do it why can't speech writers.
